Mel Crist, owner and founder of Heartland Agri Consulting Group grew up on a family farm northwest of Garden City, Kansas. As a young teenager Crist gained first-hand, real world experience by creating his own venture starting with rented land, then buying cattle, which in turn expanded into the purchase of his first quarter of land. Crist is the successful farm manager of over 100 quarters of farm land and has created expanded ventures in aerial spraying and custom harvesting.
In 1973, Crist and his father began developing 105 quarters of land in Kansas and New Mexico. Throughout his tenure, Crist has successfully expanded into livestock, agriculture aviation, irrigation, wind energy and more.
Crist’s long lasting relationships and career have garnered multiple years of experience in real estate management, land brokerage, ag accounting software, trustee and FSA duties.
Continuing education and expanding his knowledge of the agriculture business has lead Crist to hold a commercial pesticide license #86, commercial pilots license and helicopter license and Kansas Broker’s License. Continuing education has lead Crist to expand his knowledge of farm succession planning and crop insurance. Plus Mel is a lifetime member of the coveted Kansas Agriculture Aviation Association since 1991.
And at the core of his agriculture foundation lies the relationships he has built. Crist can offer clients a multitude of agriculture consulting referrals based on years of respect and growth in Kansas.
